UOI – How we organize ourselves

Central Idea – Economic activity relies on systems of production, exchange and consumption of goods and services.

In English, I am delighted to continue supporting our HRT’s with the new UOI. We will have a look at how supply and demand affect what we buy, the effect of globalization has on the market place and make a connection with the SVP annual theme of “Entrepreneur Me”. We will be working towards our summative assessment at the end of the unit which will take the form of research task and oral and written presentation of an inventor/entrepreneur of the student’s choice. During the 6 weeks of the inquiry, we will focus on developing speaking and listening skills, reading skills and writing skills as well as relevant spelling, punctuation and grammar topics that will enable us to be successful with the end of unit assessment. I am also introducing a guided reading program from the start of this unit and hope to improve the students’ reading and comprehension skills.
