This school year, our class has set up a Maker Space. This is an area where students complete projects. In the Maker Space, students think, create, solve problems, construct, try new things, make mistakes and try again. They may be young, but they are thinkers! They need a space to use their critical thinking skills.
School have provided all the materials needed for this project and there will be one period available for the students to explore this space. They can work individually or in group.
These are various results of this project: a binocular, a maze, a shower, a paper tent, a paper house, a pencil topper, a marble track, a ginger bread house, a ring, and a butterfly racer.
“To define a school makerspace by its purpose and simplest of terms, it is a place where young people have an opportunity to explore their own interests; learn to use tools and materials, both physical and virtual; and develop creative projects” Laura Flemming Worlds of Making
