English – Introducing Words of the Week!

Students wanted to learn new English words and improve their reading and spelling skills, so in English we will be doing Words of the Week.

Whenever possible, I will give students 10 words to write in their new Word Book. They have to learn the meaning of the words and write their own meaning (paraphrasing – not copying from the dictionary!) in the front of their Word Book. They then practise spelling the words at the back of the book.

Please encourage and help them to build their vocabulary by testing them on meanings and spelling if you can. They will be tested in class the following week!

This week’s words:

entrepreneur
headline
alliteration
exaggeration
repetition
photograph
columns
paragraph
quotation
