Learning phonics helps students to understand and make use of letters and their corresponding sounds in their early reading and writing. Singing, playing, reading and talking to the children are all ways to help them building great pre-literacy skills. This week the students in Nursery turned phonics learning time into fun and engaging preschool phonics activities such as playing with umbrellas to learn about /u/ sound, holding egg, envelope, and eggplant to learn about /e/ sound. Besides, the students also explored writing experiences using various kinds of media such as flour, coffee, rice and chalk. They were also asked to name the letter that certain words begin with. The students seemed to enjoy those fun activities. It helped them to develop their understanding of the learning and kept the children motivated to learn more.
