Let’s do pattern!

This week our nursery students learnt to extend pattern. Patterning is one of the important early skills that teaches children to learn sequencing, which is useful for mathematical skills and to develop their logical thinking.

The students begin to notice from their environment that things repeat in certain order by colors (just like our playground’s grass), by sizes (like how the bottles are arranged in My City grocery store), and also by shapes they may see outside.

In the classroom nursery students tried the basic pattern using two items that is introduced as AB pattern. The teachers gave the example using A-B-A-B pattern, then the students followed by making their own A-B-A-B pattern using colored pom-poms, pebbles, fruity beads and other manipulative. Let’s check out the activity below!
