1819 Grade 4 Learning Celebration “Where We Are in Place and Time”

To express students’ understanding about this Unit of Inquiry (Where We Are in Place and Time): “Exploration leads to discovery and develops new understanding” as the Central Idea,  students are about to pose as a wax statue of world explorers in a discovery museum and able to explain about their reasons for exploration, ages of exploration, challenges, routes, impacts on society, and discovery.

This learning celebration was on Friday, April 5, 2019 and started at 9.00 to 10.30 in the morning. Students are very excited to wear their costumes as well as showing their display board. They have prepared the content and master the materials about their chosen explorer through the lesson hours at school.

Parents are also invited and may ask some questions by taking one stick from the explorer or even tap his/her shoulder. Students are very confident and thoughtful in explaining their exploration by showing their project and presenting their ideas.

In the middle of the celebration, the lights off and there was a music played around. It was “December” by Earth, Wind, Fire and all students, teachers, and parents are dancing together. When the song stopped, they went back to freezed style as posing back to the wax statue of explores and parents may continue to ask for further or deeper understanding about the chosen explorer.

It’s Friday, a happy day for Grade 4 students, teachers, and parents.
