As a part of our learning activities in this unit, students investigated the relationship between the diameter and the circumference of a circle by measuring diameters and circumferences of several circular objects they brought from home. Students experienced firsthand that the circumference of circle and its diameter always have the same ratio, which is around 3.14 or 22/7. This number is called pi or in Greek letter π.
